If your new to the world of message board roleplaying (RP), of just new to it at Total Transformers and our rules and style of roleplaying and not sure how to get started, this mini-guide will help answer some basic questions.
So how do i get started roleplaying? The first thing i would do is actually read others posts, plus we also have a whole archive Here
But what about getting involved, can i jump right in the action? No, all RP's at Total Transformers must have a profile submitted to the right faction (Autobots, Decepticons etc). It then has to be approved my a member off the RP staff. Once it's approved and the RP begins, then you can begin, after you've been introduced by being written in by a RP Mod.
How do i create a profile then? Woah there! Before you rush into creating a profile, please read our RP Rules thread first. This thread is vitally important and tells you what we expect about fair playing and how to be a good roleplayer.
Okay, i've read the rules, so - the profile?.. Please read our Tech Spech V.4.0, this will give you a basic idea on how to create a character.
So where do I submit a profile? A month before the RP starts profile threads will be found in the relevant RP forum.
What this means:
If you scroll down the main page to our Roleplay section, you'll see our main forum "TTF Roleplay", in there are sub-forums for the different RP's currently taking place. No doubt one of those will be the one you are interested in. So in there the profile threads will be put up 1 month before the RP is destined to start.
And then? Over the course of the next few weeks, usually from the 2nd week onward the profiles will be checked and the GM, using the "modify" button will then place an "ACCEPTED" "PENDING" or "DENIED"
Terms: ACCEPTED If you are accepted you only then have to wait until the RP starts. If "ALMOST ACCEPTED", notes will be included next to this text to tell you what you need to fix, in which you then need to again do so by the time the RP starts.
PENDING - Usually if you have a lot to correct or there are major mistakes/you haven't read the rules properly, you will be asked to fix your profile. Next to this text it will tell you exactly what needs modifying.
DENIED - It's rare something gets flatly denied, but if you've a history for submitting a profile in the past for other RP's and not turning up for the actual RP - we have the right to refuse you. Or if you blatantly refuse or try to abuse the rules, which is extremely rare to almost never here.
PART #2
What about weapons though? How do I get them & what can I have? Please look at our Weapons of War thread these are the weapons you can have. All of the weapons have a point basis in the interests of fairness, just like your profile.
So how does the point system work? For most of the RP's you have 6 points for size (All of our sizes of which have a point basis) plus 2 freebies. The points can be used if you don't quite have enough for a certain weapon or size you want, totaling 8 points altogether..
How do i get the weapons, do i need to "buy" them? Not at all, all you have to do is list what the ones you want in your profile under "weapons" and what they can do under "abilities" As long as you keep to your 6 points + 2 freebies, but please don't forget, your size (According to our size range - not in feet & inches), also has a "point value" and is included in the total point value.
Please keep in mind if you have a large transformers it will take points as mentioned above, and give you less points for weapons. You do have however those two freebie points.
Is there anything else I need to know about Tech Specs? It must be realistic, for example not all transformers have massive strength. If you've got a big and bulky Transformer their agility isn't going to be high - they're not going to be light on their feet and they'll probably suffer endurance wise, which would be average on the tech spec at most.
Somethings will need mod approval but will be stated in the profile template sheet.
What about special powers? All special powers have to have MOD clearance, again in the interests of fairness. You can find a full list in the middle section of the Weapons of War thread.
